Paint the things you know....

February 08, 2017

Recently I was commissioned by a winery in Montepulciano Italy, to create an artwork for a wine label. Being an avid wine lover I thought "what a great way to combine two of my favourite things, art and wine".

The name of the project is 'The Juice Asylum Project'. I have been told it's a line of sort of “insane” wines that are grouped under this “mental” project. The wine is made in a very natural way - organic, no filtration, everything is spontaneous and no manipulation. Think of a cloudy juicy red.

I can't wait to try it and look forward to updating you on this project soon.

Reflecting life in South Perth

December 31, 2016

Well it was a year in the making but 'Reflections' was finally installed at Millers Pool on the South Perth foreshore. 'Reflections' is a four metre tall, solar powered, kinetic sculpture. When the sun shines the sculpture gently rotates. 'Reflections' doesn't have a battery so it only turns when the sun shines, this was deliberate. I wanted to highlight just how many sunny days we have in Perth and that renewable energy is the way of the future.

The biggest thanks goes to my partner Shane Mullins who was the engineer on the project and an amazing support throughout.

October 23, 2016

Work has begun on the Miller's Pool site on the South Perth foreshore, soon to be home my new sculpture. We have been busily fabricating and working toward a mid-November install. Soon we will have some images of the work in progress.

Cow Parade Perth 2016

October 14, 2016

Monday was the launch of 'Cow Parade Perth' at the Art Gallery of Western Australia. It was fantastic to be one one of the five artists chosen out of forty cow parade artists to have my cow 'Netters Atlas' at the art gallery for the launch.

It was lovely to meet Mayor Lisa Scaffidi at AGWA and watch Perth embrace such a fantastic public art initiative.

The cows will be installed throughout the CBD in November and they will be on display for six weeks.

Millers Pool - Commission

July 19, 2016

I have been commissioned to build a sculpture on the South Perth foreshore at Millers Pool. With the assistance of my partner Shane, I will build a four metre tall sculpture set against a backdrop of the Perth city skyline. It will be a celebration of the abundance of renewable energy Western Australia possesses, in the face of the mining crisis.

It will be solar powered and when the sun shines the work will turn, reflecting the surrounding river and wetlands. It will reflect the sun, the sky, and the people as they pass by; in a way creating a motif that changes each day, reflecting life on the South Perth foreshore.

Estimated installation date mid November 2016.
