Reflections 2017

'Reflections' is a four metre tall, solar powered, kinetic sculpture that has been installed at Millers Pool on the South Perth foreshore in Perth, Western Australia overlooking the CBD.

As an artist when you are given the opportunity to say something in the public realm, it can be a very daunting task. My intention for 'Reflections' was to make a statement about something that I felt strongly about. The effect of the mining boom and subsequent decline is evident in so many aspects of Perth and its culture. I feel for the families that have been effected but I also feel strongly about the environmental effect. I wanted 'Reflections' to be a positive work that looked to the future.

Perth is one of the sunniest and windiest places in the world. The time to focus our efforts on renewable energy and environmental rejuvenation is now.

This solar powered work reflects the beauty in both the natural and built environment of the South Perth foreshore and its inhabitants. As the sun shines 'Reflections' gently rotates.
